Week 6: Day 2 of Work Experience at LIT

Week 6
Day 2 of Work Experience at LIT

Nice sky photo I took recently to start the day:

On a half day today and started work at 1: 30 pm, checked email and reviewed plans for the day.

Updated previous videos with new techniques learned and to remove unwanted effects, such as flicker. Streamlined details in the video designs so that they are all recognizable as a unit with similar template, colour scheme, typography and effects used.

For this batch today, I have completed the above tasks for videos on:
  • Creating an assignment in Moodle
  • Setting up of submission of assignment in Moodle
  • Adding content to Moodle page
  • How to embed media in a Moodle page

I will continue with this tomorrow.

Excellent newsletter for reading about current trends in eWebDesign:

There were several articles in this newsletter of which one was particularly interesting about, consistency in web design by Jake Rocheleau:

In this article is discussed, consistency for guiding user behavior on your website. That users have certain expectations of a website that are best kept consistent, within the context of a designers overall website plan. Such expectations are for example of: intuitive navigation, scroll bars, external links for more information and layout flow. Also talked about in this article is to keep branding consistent regarding: colour, textures, typefaces, padding and icons/elements related to the brand. That this is best considered in the early design stages of a website and in identifying user needs and requirements. The main point being that each user has a consistent experience of a designers website.

E-mail from Stephen that there is training on Thursday. I'll find out more about it tomorrow.

A social quote of the day: "Bad things can happen good people, when other good people stand by and do nothing."
