Week 1: Day 3 of Work Placement at LIT
Week 1
Day 3 of Work Placement:
Started work at 9:00 am. Checked mail. Viewed completed video on "How to access your Timetable" from the Student Portal, from yesterday.
Watched the Camtasia tutorial videos again to refresh.
Increased the audio of the video slightly by dragging upwards the audio bar.
Exported and shared the above video (MP4 720p) using One Drive to Stephen. I received a confirmation email of same.
I noticed on this confirmation email that there was a link to "Delve," where the user can view projects other people are working on and can add their own projects. I then went to the home page of "Delve" at: https://eur.delve.office.com, and read about this topic.
Updated the video with a "blur" on my Knumber for privacy and shared the new version to Stephen's account on One Drive.
Things I have learned as improvements for making these videos: careful attention to transitions between zoomed and static clips and sequential mouse directions.
We received emails from Stephen of a list of next videos to make.
Main points to convey are: where to locate the applications and their functioning.
David and I wrote up a script for the "One-Drive" tutorial.
Then we worked on writing up scripts for some of the apps available through Microsoft Outlook by clicking on the "App Launcher Icon." The applications we wrote scripts for today are: One Note; Calendar; Word Online.
Stephen noted the advantages of the online versions of the Microsoft Products above such as Word Online, that if a student does not have access to M.S. Office 365 at home, if they use M.S. Word Online, then they can access their work through Microsoft Outlook.
We learned through the script writing that these online versions have also "Share" options for sharing and collaboration of work with colleagues and classmates. This is useful if there are a number of people working on the same project in different locations. When the documents are shared between members of a team, they can make changes and additions, and these automatically updates in all members documents. Also, each addition is flagged with the id of the person who added information or made changes.
We then each made a final change to the videos worked on. Stephen added information to the opening clip which we added to our individual videos and I shared the final version on One Drive to Stephen's account.
Finished work at 5:30 pm. Tomorrow we will write up scripts for PowerPoint Online and Excel Online. Then we will start creating the video tutorials.
